Canadian Criminal Record Check (RCMP)

If you live outside Canada and need a Canadian RCMP criminal record check, Live Scan and More can take your fingerprints and facilitate the submission of the fingerprints to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) through a CCRTIS-accredited agency.

This process allows you to obtain a Canadian criminal record for purposes such as immigration, citizenship, employment, or other official requests.

How the Process Works:

1. We take your fingerprints using RCMP Form C-216C or FD-258 fingerprint cards.
2. Your fingerprints are digitized by a CCRTIS-accredited agency.
3. They are then securely submitted to the RCMP for processing by a CCRTIS-accredited agency.
4.  Once completed, the RCMP mails back the criminal report.

For an additional fee, the report can also be Apostilled or Authenticated for use in other countries.

Important Information for Canadians Applying for U.S. Immigration.

Canadians who need an RCMP record check for U.S. immigration must request the report under Criminal Record Check For Personal Use (Privacy Act Request, US Immigration).

A Privacy Act report:

• Is based on a fingerprint search of the RCMP National Repository.
• Shows the information that is legally allowed to be disclosed.
• Does not include fingerprint images.
• Does not include the official RCMP embossed seal.
• Is provided in a plain format and may not be used for any other purpose.

Requirements

Please bring the following:

1. Two pieces of valid identification (originals and photocopies of both sides).
   • At least one must include a photo, name, and date of birth and be issued by a federal or provincial authority.
   • Examples: Passport, Citizenship Card, Birth Certificate, Driver’s License, Permanent Resident Card, Government ID.

1. In-person appointment for fingerprinting using RCMP Form C-216C or FD-258 cards.
2. A photograph.
3. Payment.

Processing Time

Processing usually takes about 30 days from the time your fingerprints are taken until you receive the report.

If Apostille or authentication is required, processing may take longer depending on the country where the document will be used.

Please note:

• Once fingerprints are submitted, status updates are not available.
• The RCMP does not provide updates during processing, all we can provide is the DCN Confirmation form RCMP.
